Everywhere was rather small in Bali this Sunday. The best pick of the day for advanced surfers seemed to be down the cliff of Ungasan: Green Bowl was firing early morning with well overhead waves on sets, offshore wind and long rights (sorry for the poor photo quality - taken with a smartphone :)
When not in school - like this Sunday - local grommets make the most of their time training for the next competition. While checking the waves, Singasurf had the chance to meet two of the up-and-coming local champions: Dhea Natasya and Dhany Widianto - sister and brother from Halfway Kuta Boardriders.
Dhea Natasya, riding for Surfer Girl, and Dhany Widianto, riding for Hurley.
Dhea is gearing up for the next Rip Curl Grom Search 2016 National Finals that will be held in Lakey Peak, Sumbawa, this coming November 4ht to 6th. Dhea and Dhany both signed one of their best performance of the year winning the Volcom's Totally Crustaceous Tour 2016 respectively in Girls Division and Under-13 Division.
Dhea and Dhany are part of the latest breed of local surfers giving hope to see more Indonesians reaching the highest levels professional surfing!
We look forward to meet them again for even greater news!
Latest update: congratulations to Dhea who won the Rip Curl Gromsearch National Finals 2016! She then won her ticket to International Grand Finals that will be held in 2017.
